Vicksburg, MS (August 14, 2022) - A senior citizen was taken to a local hospital for treatment after an accident in which a single vehicle overturned on Saturday, August 13th in Warren County.

At about 10:00 a.m., police were dispatched to the southbound lanes of Highway 61 in the area of LeTourneau for a collision involving fire and entrapment.

The driver and an elderly person were heading southbound on Highway 61 when the car left the roadway and rolled over into a wooded embankment.

Passenger Rights in a Mississippi Car Accidents

, Vicksburg, MS - One Hospitalized After Crash, Fire on Hwy 61 , Germany Law Firm PLLC

Passengers are in a unique position when it comes to car accidents in Mississippi. An injured passenger is rarely responsible for the incident, however, this does not mean they are any less likely to sustain injuries during a crash.

Passengers are vulnerable to the very same injuries as drivers, including traumatic brain injuries and broken bones. Regardless of what caused the accident, it is most likely that someone other than the passenger is liable for their injuries.

In Mississippi, auto insurance coverage is a must for all drivers. In the event of a passenger-injury accident, this coverage will be used to pay for any damages endured by a passenger so they can start putting their life back together.

Typically, filing a claim against an insurance carrier only results in a settlement offer so low, that it might not even cover the claimant’s basic medical expenses. Anytime an insurance adjuster makes an initial offer, you should speak with an experienced personal injury attorney in Mississippi before you accept it.

A free consultation with a Mississippi passenger injury lawyer from Germany Law Firm, PLLC can provide you with a full understanding of the nuances of your claim, what medical bills to expect now and in the future, and the estimated value of your claim before you consent to a devalued settlement offer.
