Pedestrian Crashes in Mississippi

Shannon, MS - School Officer Hit by Motor Vehicle on US-45Thousands of people are killed while walking in the United States each year, proving that the street can be a dangerous place for pedestrians. Mississippi has one of the highest rates of pedestrian fatalities in the country, despite having the least amount of pedestrian traffic. In 2017, 5,977 pedestrians were killed in the United States. A pedestrian is killed on the roads every 88 minutes on average.

Pedestrians are at a serious disadvantage when involved in a crash with a motor vehicle and are more likely to suffer from life-threatening injuries, and this has contributed to a heightened mortality rate for those traveling on foot. Unlike those in passenger cars, pedestrians have little protection from the full impact of an accident, and the resulting injuries can be completely life-changing. Drivers are required to yield the right of way and share the road with pedestrians, but many fail to do so and cause catastrophic crashes. A Shannon pedestrian injury lawyer can help recover financial compensation for your injuries after being hit by a negligent driver.

Few people expect to be seriously injured in a pedestrian accident, but thousands of pedestrians are injured across the state each year and require help to pursue legal compensation for their damages. Many injured parties are unsure of how to seek compensation for their injuries after an accident, and this can lead to complications when pursuing a personal injury claim.
