Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Shannon

Shannon, MS – Joshua Phillips Hit & Killed by Car on Noah Curtis Hwy

According to verified data, 88 people were hit and killed by motor vehicles all throughout the state of Mississippi in 2018. Pedestrian accidents in Shannon, like anywhere else in the state, are frequently deadly as such collisions have at least partially contributed to the national pedestrian fatality rate, which was reported as 4,743 in 2012. This is because pedestrian accidents with vehicles often end with severe injury or death due to the vulnerability of the victim, as well as the actions of negligent drivers.

It has been reported that when a vehicle is traveling at 40 mph, there is then an 85% chance that a pedestrian will be killed in a collision. The chances drop significantly as speeds are reduced, leaving a 45% chance of death in a collision with a car traveling at 30 mph, all the way down to a 5% chance of death at 20 mph. This information emphasizes the importance of careful driving, particularly where pedestrians or anyone else on foot or otherwise unprotected are in the area.

Unfortunately, reckless drivers show little to no regard for the safety of anyone else on the road. There is nothing more tragic than losing a family member, particularly in an incident that could have been avoided. When your suffering has been caused by the actions of another party, you should never be further encumbered by financial concerns. Acquiring a capable wrongful death attorney to fight for justice so you can remain focused on your physical and emotional recovery is imperative.
