Pine Belt, MS (July 1, 2020) – One person was killed and one other injured during a traffic accident that took place early on Wednesday morning, July 1st. The crash happened along Interstate 59 near mile marker 51 in Purvis at approximately 4:30 a.m.
According to officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the driver of an unspecified vehicle was traveling southbound when the vehicle overturned. The impact of the crash caused one passenger to be ejected from the vehicle.
First responders arrived at the scene where the driver was pronounced deceased. The injured passenger was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The cause of this incident is under investigation.
