Oxford, MS – Malori Smith Injured in Semi-Truck Crash on MS-7

Oxford, MS (November 3, 2020) – A Banner woman suffered injuries after being involved in a collision with an 18-wheeler in the Oxford area on Sunday, November 1. 

The crash reportedly occurred on MS-7 near the Highway 7/9 interchange. Local law enforcement officials were called to the scene of the accident at around 12:17 p.m. that afternoon. According to local authorities, two vehicles were reportedly involved in the crash, a 2017 Freightliner and a 2006 Saturn Ion. 

The Freightliner was traveling southbound on MS-7 at the time of the crash. The driver of the Scion, 22-year-old Malori E. Smith of Banner, Mississippi, was attempting to make a left turn into a private driveway and collided with the commercial truck. Smith sustained serious injuries and was flown to Region One Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. 

The truck driver, 35-year-old James E. Morrison of Lafayette, Louisiana, was uninjured in the crash. An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.
