Ocean Springs, MS (September 29, 2019) – A deputy from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department died Saturday, September 28th in a motorcycle accident on Old Fort Bayou Road that also injured his wife.

A statement issued by the department says Glenn Everett Roe and Melanie Roe were on their bikes near JF Douglas Road heading eastbound when a Toyota pickup truck turned onto the street directly in front of the couple.

Both Glenn and his wife collided with the passenger side of the truck. Their motorcycles skidded for sometime before coming to a stop in the middle of the road.

The couple was transported to Ocean Springs Hospital. Sadly, Glenn Roe was pronounced dead on arrival. Melanie Roe is currently hospitalized. Her injuries have been classified as non-life threatening.

The truck driver, Zachary Winans, had minor abrasions.

The incident remains under investigation.

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to Glenn Roe’s wife and family during this difficult time.  Our thoughts are with his wife as we hope for a full recovery.

More often than not, motorcycle accidents are caused by the carelessness of the driver of a car, truck, or another type of vehicle.
