Natchez, MS – UPDATE: Louis Thomas Dies in Truck Accident on US-61

Natchez, MS (May 31, 2021) – The identity of the Natchez man who was killed following a trucking accident in Adams County on Thursday, May 27, has been released by local authorities. 

Emergency responders were called to the scene located on US-61 at around 4 p.m. A box truck reportedly collided with a Nissan Frontier pickup truck on the northbound lanes of the highway. The impact caused the driver of the Nissan, 79-year-old Louis Thomas of Natchez, to leave the roadway and overturn. Thomas was subsequently ejected from the vehicle. 

The injured party was pronounced dead at the scene by attending medical personnel. Local reports have not yet revealed if the driver of the truck, 26-year-old Drew Coleman of Hattiesburg, was injured in the accident. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is currently underway.
