Passenger Rights in Mississippi Car Accidents
Passengers are uniquely positioned when it comes to Mississippi vehicle accidents. A passenger who is injured or killed is almost never liable for the crash, however, this does not mean they are any safer in the event of a collision.
Passengers are susceptible to the same injuries as a vehicle’s driver, such as paralysis, head injuries, broken bones, and even death. No matter what the cause of the accident was, it is a near certainty that a person other than the passenger was responsible.
In Mississippi, car insurance coverage is required of all drivers. In the event of an accident involving a passenger, it will be used to cover any losses endured by the passenger or their surviving family members.
Usually, filing a claim against the insurance provides only produces a meager settlement offer; one so small it will not even cover the victim’s basic medical costs. Anytime an adjuster makes you an offer, you should reach out to an experienced Mississippi personal injury lawyer before accepting it.
