Common Injuries in Mississippi Car Accidents
Some forms of injury often seen in Mississippi car accidents include:
Injuries to the spine and back are some of the most severe. For instance, a serious back injury can cause uncorrectable damage to your spinal cord. Once those nerves are damaged, other injuries, such as paralysis, can ensue. In some instances, you a victim will lose all use of their lower extremities. The worst-case scenario for a spine injury ends in quadriplegia, which is the loss of use of both arms and legs.
Neck injuries resulting from vehicle accidents are often referred to as whiplash. Whiplash is one of the most common injuries because it can happen in almost any kind of crash, even a low-speed fender-bender. The more serious the car accident, the more long-term complications can stem from increasingly severe cases of whiplash.
A frequent result of severe vehicle accidents is a traumatic brain injury or another head injury resulting from the unexpected impact and consequent head movement. The impact can force the victim's head against the steering wheel, frame of the vehicle, dashboard, or deployed airbag causing long-term or permanent damage.
In a negligence-related crash, a victim can sustain serious injuries that come with long-term consequences. Sadly, vehicle accidents often lead to injuries ranging from serious to catastrophic.
