Lamar Co, MS (April 7, 2021) – On Tuesday, April 6, a Hattiesburg man was killed after being hit by a motor vehicle in Lamar County.
The deadly pedestrian accident occurred early that morning at the intersection of US-98 and Rocky Branch Road. At around 5:34 a.m., 58-year-old James Casey of Hattiesburg was traveling on the highway. At that time, a westbound Kia struck Casey, who was walking in the left lane on the roadway.
Casey suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries have been reported at this time. It is unknown if the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
An ongoing investigation into the fatal collision is in progress.
