Jackson, MS – Woman Injured During Police Chase on Hwy 49Mississippi Legal News
Jackson, MS (October 17, 2020) – A woman sustained injuries on Friday, October 16th when a truck involved in a police pursuit collided with the vehicle she was driving.
Police incident reports state that the chase started in Florence when sheriff’s deputies from Rankin County recognized a stolen vehicle–a pick-up truck with a cow trailer attached that had been reported stolen earlier that morning.
Deputies gave chase to the vehicle down Highway 49, which resulted in a T-bone collision with a car at the intersection for Scarborough Street, injuring the two people inside.
The cow trailer then came unhitched and the pick-up continued along Highway 49, sideswiping a second vehicle.
The driver fled the scene on foot and remains at large.
The injured driver of a Lincoln was transported via ambulance to a local hospital where she received emergency medical treatment for an injured leg.
This accident is still under investigation by local law enforcement.
