Jackson, MS (July 23, 2022) - A driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 55 in Jackson caused a multi-vehicle collision that left two people dead on Saturday, July 23rd.
According to Jackson Police, the crash took place at about 2:30 p.m. just outside of Byram when a motorist driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the interstate struck several vehicles.
Both the wrong-way driver and the driver of another vehicle died in the crash.
The driver of a vehicle belonging to the City of Jackson was also involved in the impact and transferred to an area hospital in unknown condition.
Between three and five vehicles were involved in the collision, which remains under police investigation.
