The year before, there were approximately 40,200 car crash-related fatalities across the entire country. Car accidents in Jackson are like those that take place anywhere else in that many severe collisions are triggered by negligent motorists. The leading causes of deadly traffic collisions include impaired driving, distracted driving, and speeding. In fact, a total of at least 18% of all fatal car crashes around Mississippi in 2015 involved an intoxicated motorist. Nationally, distracted driving killed a total of 3,477 people in the same year, making such actions among the most hazardous in the United States.
In many cases, victims are forced to afford the costs of hospitalization, continued medical care, and even services such as physical therapy for years following an accident. When these costs are a result of the careless actions taken by other drivers, victims must understand that they deserve justice.
