Raymond, MS – Infant Killed in Pileup Crash on MS-18 at Pentecostal DrMississippi Legal News
Raymond, MS (October 1, 2021) – An infant died as a result of a multi-vehicle collision in Hinds County on Thursday, September 30.
The fatal crash occurred at the crossing of MS-18 and Pentecostal Drive early that morning at around 9:30 a.m. The Mississippi Highway Patrol revealed that 33-year-old Jerica Sampson of Clinton was headed west in a 2013 Nissan Maxima when she collided with a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz driven by 18-year-old David Cooper of Jackson.
After this collision, a 2011 Chevrolet Impala driven by 19-year-old Jakayla Parker of Jackson swerved to avoid crashing into the disabled vehicles. This caused Parker to lose control and crash with a 2011 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 39-year-old Latoya Flowers of Utica.
Three injured parties were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for treatment. An infant passenger of the Nissan was killed in the crash.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is underway.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Deadly Car Accidents in Mississippi
In Mississippi, automobile accidents are the leading cause of death and serious injury. When it comes to driving, many people have a terrible reputation for being irresponsible. In a variety of ways, drivers endanger themselves and others. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mississippi has one of the highest annual traffic-related fatality rates in the country. Mississippi people are more likely to be critically injured in an accident than residents of other states. It was discovered that more than 22% of drivers in the state were not wearing seat belts.
Wrongful death lawsuits are intended to compensate surviving family members when the negligent actions of another party cause the death of a loved one. Just because the victim died, that does not mean that the at-fault party should be off the hook. The defendant must instead pay compensation to the family members of the deceased after a deadly car crash. This can only be accomplished by partnering with a Mississippi law firm with years of experience helping victims pursue wrongful death claims.
