Wrongful Deaths in Mississippi
In a Mississippi wrongful death claim, the deceased’s surviving relatives may be granted recovery for both economic and non0economic damages.
Economic damages are intended to compensate the family for calculable and quantifiable losses. These include medical costs accrued by the victim before their death, funeral costs and the cost of burial or cremation, lost wages and other earnings, and property damage.
Non-economic damages are designed to act as financial compensation for other forms of damages that are much harder to assign a dollar amount to, like the pain and suffering the victim endured before they passed, emotional trauma, and loss of companionship.
The forms of recovery you are granted and what the total amount will be will depend largely on the exact circumstances of the accident. The surest way to calculate the value of a wrongful death case is to speak with an experienced lawyer.
