Hattiesburg, MS – Shonda Isbell Injured in Pileup Crash on I-59Mississippi Legal News
Hattiesburg, MS (October 11, 2021) – Two people were injured in the aftermath of a multi-vehicle accident in Hattiesburg on Friday, October 8.
Four vehicles reportedly collided on Interstate 59 at around 3:40 p.m. that day. Local authorities revealed that a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 38-year-old Brandy Buckley of Hattiesburg was traveling on the highway when it rear-ended a 2012 Buick Enclave driven by 47-year-old Shonda Isbell of Metairie, Louisiana. The incident occurred near the exit for the municipal airport at Exit 76.
The impact caused Isbell’s vehicle to crash into a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 68-year-old Jerrell Purvis Jr. of Glennville, Georgia. The Chevy then collided with a fourth vehicle. Buckley was taken to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. Isbell was treated at the scene by attending medical personnel.
An ongoing crash investigation is underway.
Our thoughts are with Brandy Buckley, Shonda Isbell, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Mississippi High-Speed Accidents
Speeding has been linked to the deaths of about one-third of all motorists in the last two decades, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Every year, tens of thousands of people are killed in high-speed collisions. When a motorist speeds, maintaining vehicle control becomes more difficult. Car accidents are more likely due to a number of causes. In 2018, 9,378 people died as a result of speeding. Each year, a quarter of all traffic deaths in Mississippi are caused by fast drivers. When a car crashes into someone at a fast speed, the victim is more likely to get catastrophic injuries.
