Fatal Trucking Accidents in Hattiesburg
Throughout the year 2010, over 3,400 people were killed in collisions that involved commercial tractor-trailers. Catastrophic trucking accidents in Hattiesburg are no different than any others across the state of Mississippi and often among the most deadly types of accidents that can occur. The severity of such incidents is at least partly due to the size and power or such trucks, but also because of the actions of reckless motorists and other negligent entities. Following any sudden accident caused by no fault of the victim, it is vital for those who have suffered to know that they may have substantial rights that are protected by law as they attempt to move forward.
Besides the assorted concerns such as driver fatigue and distracted driving, a wide range of trucking accidents are repeatedly caused by other entities like a vehicle manufacturer or a seriously negligent employer. Trucking companies often need to transport goods as rapidly as possible, which can lead to extremely long hours and overloaded cargo. These actions can also contribute to drowsy driving and overturned tractor-trailers. Large commercial 18-wheelers are well-known to have poor maneuverability, prolonged stopping distance, and serious blind spots, all of which may be considered factors that can quickly contribute to a serious accident.
Any collision involving an 18-wheeler or other commercial truck can be extremely devastating.
