Victim Injuries in Mississippi
During a serious car crash, most victims sustain severe injuries that come with long-range impacts.
Neck injuries, often referred to as whiplash, are one of the most common injuries due to the fact that soft tissue can be damaged in even the most minor of impacts. The more serious the collision, the more long-term complications can stem from increasingly severe cases of whiplash.
Back injuries and spinal injuries are some of the most critical accident-related injuries. For example, a serious back injury can cause irreparable damage to your spinal cord. Once those nerve centers are damaged, other injuries, like paralysis, often follow. In extreme cases, victims lose all function of their lower extremities. The worst-case scenario for a spine injury is quadriplegia, which is the loss of use in both legs and arms.
Another common injury sustained by crash victims is a traumatic brain injury or another head injury resulting from the sudden jolt and subsequent uncontrolled head movement. The impact can force the victim's head against the steering wheel, frame of the vehicle, dashboard, or deployed airbag causing long-term or permanent damage.
