Pedestrian Accidents in Mississippi
In 2017, there were 5,977 pedestrian fatalities in the United States. According to this figure, a fatal pedestrian accident occurs every 88 minutes. According to statistics, pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than drivers to die in traffic accidents. Mississippi has one of the country's highest pedestrian fatality rates despite also having one of the lowest levels of pedestrian activity. In recent years, the number of pedestrian deaths in the United States has steadily increased. This is the case while overall car deaths are on the decline.
When pedestrians collide with vehicles, they are put at a severe disadvantage, resulting in more catastrophic injuries and fatalities. On foot, people are exposed to the full force of a collision, which can cause significant damage.
Many fatal car accidents occur when drivers fail to give pedestrians the right of way or share the road, and it is primarily the pedestrians' fault. After being hit by a negligent motorist, a Mississippi pedestrian accident lawyer can help you seek financial compensation for your injuries.
