Gulfport, MS – Man Killed in Fatal Fire on Courthouse Rd

Gulfport, MS (February 26, 2020) – Around 6 a.m. this morning, a man was killed in a fatal fire at the Racquet Club Condominiums on Courthouse Road in Gulfport.

Police confirmed that a 42-year-old man was killed in the accident. A tree caught the home on fire when it sent smoke up into a stairwell, trapping the residents.

The 42-year-old man helped his brother and roommate to safety on the roof when the fire started. He tried to get to safety but was pronounced dead at the scene from smoke inhalation. The two he saved were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Pets were also killed in the fire.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the fire.
