Deadly Auto Accidents in Mississippi
Across the country, vehicle collisions are the leading cause of death and serious injury in the United States, with more than 3 million roadway injuries reported annually. Excessive speeds and reckless driving are two of the most prevalent causes of deadly and serious accidents in Mississippi. Drunk driving is the main cause of fatal accidents in the state, accounting for about a third of all annual road deaths. According to official figures, around 22% of Mississippi drivers do not use seatbelts when driving.
Mississippi is recognized as one of the most dangerous states to drive in due to its consistently high number of traffic fatalities, and it has consistently held the country’s highest traffic fatality rate. Statistics show that fatal car accidents are on the rise in the United States. When you’re driving, there’s always the possibility of colliding with another vehicle.
Wrongful death claims in Mississippi are intended to compensate surviving family members when a loved one loses their life as a consequence of another person’s carelessness, such as a reckless driver. The fact that the victim died does not relieve the party who caused the harm from all responsibility for their conduct.
Following a fatal vehicle accident, the offender must instead pay the deceased victims’ remaining family members. This can only be accomplished by working with a Mississippi law firm that has years of experience aiding wrongful death clients.
