Passenger Rights in Mississippi Car Accidents
Passengers are in an unusual situation when it comes to vehicle collisions in Mississippi. An injured passenger is almost never liable for the event. This, however, does not make them any less likely to be injured during a crash.
Passengers are at risk of sustaining the exact same injuries as motorists, including broken bones and traumatic brain injuries. No matter what caused the incident, it is generally assumed that a person other than the passenger is responsible for their injuries.
Car insurance coverage is a prerequisite for all Mississippi drivers. When a passenger is injured in a collision, this coverage is what covers any damages they endured and allows them to meet the financial obligations they incurred in the crash.
Generally, the result of filing a claim against someone’s insurance company is a lowball settlement offer that won’t even cover your basic medical costs. If an insurance adjuster makes you a preliminary offer, we strongly urge you to meet with a skilled personal injury lawyer in Mississippi before accepting it.
