Canton, MS (July 21, 2022) - A local man was killed after being hit by a motor vehicle in the Canton area on Wednesday, July 20. The deadly crash was reported at the intersection of MS-16 and Miggins Road at around 4:45 a.m.
Local reports revealed that 50-year-old Leroy Barnes of Carthage was headed westbound in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Barnes reportedly hit a man that was walking along the highway. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased party was later identified as 28-year-old Javaris Mack of Canton. No additional information has been provided at this time.
Local authorities are handling the ongoing accident investigation.
