Byhalia, MS (September 17, 2021) - An Arkansas man was injured following a two-vehicle accident in Byhalia on Thursday, September 16.
The accident was reported early that morning at around 5:30 a.m. According to local reports, 35-year-old Dustin M. Glidden of Alma, Michigan was traveling eastbound on Interstate 22 in a semi-trailer. It was then that the semi collided with a 2017 Jeep Compass near mile marker 13 just south of the interchange for Interstate 269.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the driver of the Jeep, 38-year-old David H. Austin of Forest City, Arkansas, entered the highway leading up to the crash. Both vehicles came to a stop in the median and caught fire. Austin was transported to Region One Health in Memphis for the treatment of sustained injuries.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
Our thoughts are with Dustin H. Austin and his family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
Mississippi Trucking Accidents
The bulk of freight in the United States is transported by commercial vehicles. People in passenger automobiles are put in risk because of their large size. In truck accidents, those driving smaller vehicles are more likely to sustain life-threatening injuries. Each year, over 500,000 semi-truck collisions are reported in the United States, resulting in thousands of deaths. Many Mississippi drivers are apprehensive while driving behind huge trucks because they know how much damage these vehicles can wreak if they are involved in an accident.
Accidents involving large trucks are much different than typical vehicle collisions. These types of accidents are known to result in more severe injuries and be extremely complicated. They involve multiple parties. The resulting injuries can be life-changing for victims. These accidents can leave you searching for a way to make a full recovery. That is why you need the help of a Mississippi car crash lawyer.
Large commercial vehicles are massive and capable of inflicting devastating injuries and other damages in the event of a trucking accident in Mississippi. Not only that, but you are dealing with a trucking company that may have acted recklessly and potentially contributed to your accident. These large companies often have experienced legal teams fighting to make sure that they pay as little as possible.
