Pedestrian Crashes in Mississippi

4.2 Attala Co, MS - Will Yates Critically Injured in Accident on MS-35As a pedestrian, you have every right to use the road. Unfortunately, many drivers do not look out for those traveling on foot and cause catastrophic accidents. Mississippi has one of the highest pedestrian fatality rates in the nation, despite making up some of the lowest volumes of pedestrian traffic. In 2018, a pedestrian was killed in a collision every 88 minutes on average, contributing to 5,977 deaths that year.

Pedestrians are at a serious disadvantage when involved in a crash with a motor vehicle and are more likely to suffer from life-threatening injuries. Unlike those traveling in passenger cars, pedestrians have little protection from the full impact of an accident, and the resulting injuries can be life-changing. Drivers are required to yield the right of way and share the road with pedestrians. A Mississippi pedestrian injury lawyer can help recover financial compensation for your injuries after being hit by a negligent driver.

Few people expect to be seriously injured in a Mississippi pedestrian accident, but thousands of pedestrians are injured across the state each year and require help to pursue legal compensation for their damages. Many injured parties are unsure of how to seek compensation for their injuries after an accident.
